Swindon is one of five locations that are trialling two types of electric vehicles for six months. The aim is to help reduce Royal Mail’s carbon footprint by using cleaner fuel for their short distance posting. Both vehicle types can travel 70-90 miles on a single charge. This is a step in the right direction for Swindon becoming an eco-friendly town as ‘we all have a part to play to protect our environment and secure our future’.
We agree that this is a good start but in order for these new models to have a big impact it needs to be on a larger scale, not just in five places around the country. This new replacement needs to be applied to other mail companies as well as Royal Mail.
